GTO62

First of all, let me introduce myself.

My name is John, 64 years old (young) retired since last year October and come from The Netherlands.

I am collecting, building and rebuilding 1:18 Ferrari models.

As you can see at my nickname, the GTO of '62 is my favourite.

Now Etienne ask me to speak French, but unfortunately my French is very poor.

I had 2 years French lessons............ about 50 years ago, so you can imagine, I've lost a little bit over the years. ;)

I have a French brother in law (bon frère), lives in the Provence and don't speak English.

When we meet each other, we speak with hands and feet.

So, if you all don't mind, I will go on with English and sometimes with my hands and ........ pictures.

The first rebuild I will show you is of course a.........250 GTO.

I have a good relationship with my BBR-retailor and sometimes he has damaged models for me.

Just with the next one, It had a broken A-style on the right

Because I had already a few red GTO's from BBR and CMC, I painted the model after restoration in a grey colour.

I know, as far I know, there is has never been a GTO in this colour, but sometimes I am a little bit naughty and do the things I like.

Hope you like the result! :)

Welcome John  :) your models are great with high finish level as your passion level as well. :)

the Blue one is my favorite

grey is really well finished but in my opinion, Shield cuts the shape and doesn’t match with shark vents  :)

Thank you Calif38. :)

As I said above, sometimes I do some naughty things in my buildings and are not realistic.

That is who I am. ;)

What do you think Loic, I am going to make all 39 GTO's?

No, that is to much, no time and no space.

Only 2 GTO's in 1:12 will come in the future, a '62 and a '64 from MFH.

Well, now you are mention this, I have still a 1:18 250 GTO from BBR lying around here somewhere.

It's has a damage rear window and I think, that's a good base to create a spider version. :P:lol:

My latest project I finished last week.

I like to work very much with carbon decals and so I did with this model.

The model is a 1:18 F40 LM from BBR and it was originally mat black.

I recovered the whole body with carbon decals and painted it with mat clear.

So now it looks more like a test-car.

A few years ago, I became a damaged 458 Speciale from my BBR-retailer.

It was fallen down in the box and it exploded because the screws from the model were tightened to fast.

Model broke in 3 pieces and a few other parts.

For me it is always most important that the windows are not broken, the rest I can fix.

After a few coats of paint remover we could start with the restoration of the 458.

Finally after a lot of filler and sanding we could start with the primer.

Still have to learn how this forum works, was not finished yet. ;)

But we go on:

I decided to paint the model not in the original blue colour but in ivory.

And I added black with grey/alu stripes on it.

After a few clear coats the body could dry for a while and in meanwhile I could repaint the whole interior.

I did not like the brown colour and changed it to dark red with black.

After drying of the clear paint, it's time to polish the paint.

IMG-2151-(Kopie).jpg

IMG-2152-(Kopie).jpg

No problems at all to putting all the parts together again and a new model was born.
